Conestoga, PA: Pam Liddell has sent another inspiring report! Pam says, “Even though they are smaller than most of the other competitors, Connemaras made a big impression this past weekend at the Colonel Bengt Ljungquist Memorial Championships and Garden State Classic Dressage Show, a combined three-day recognized dressage show at the New Jersey Horse Park. Two purebred Connemara ponies earned the three highest scores of the entire three-day show, sweeping first and second places in both Training Level Test 2 on Friday, and Training Level Test 3 on Sunday, and taking Reserve Champion in the Training Level Finals. Kynynmont Cooper O’Grady (*Gun Smoke X Kynynmont Moira) had not only the high score of the show (79.2%), but also the second highest score (78.2%). His half-sister, Kynynmont Blue Sapphire (“Sophie”) (Landgate Bluebeard X Kynynmont Moira), had the third highest score (76.8%). Cooper was also Training Level Reserve Champion with a score of 72.679%, and Sophie tied for 5th in the Training Level Championships with a score of 71.071%, in a class of 25. No one could have guessed from his steady performances that Cooper is only three years old, and a stallion to boot. Sophie was also absolutely steady, and thinks it’s a bummer to have to keep showing in the same classes as Cooper. Both Cooper and Sophie were ridden by assistant trainer, Emily O’Neill.

Placed 2nd in the USDF DSHB Stock In-Hand class at 2011 Dressage at Devon, on the heels of his sister, Kynynmont Kerrianna (also by *Gun Smoke).

Hello, Vanessa, Yes, (Balmullo's) Billy Elliot is my boy. I adore him. He's easygoing, talented and the friendliest horse I've ever known. He's also quite handsome, in his shaggy big-boned pony way. Mostly we hang at the farm and trail ride with my daughter, but we also do some dressage, event, we've foxhunted a few times (he was great), he's tried cattle herding (loved it), and we did a couple of bombproofing clinics with mounted police (who told me that if he was bigger they'd want him for the force). Last year we did three beginner novice level (unrecognized) events; he won two (Full Moon Farm and Jenny Camp) and was fourth at Waredaca. We're going to Full Moon again next weekend. Current owner unknown. It is believed that the pony was sold by the family after his previous owner tragically passed away.

!!!!!!!!! Any info on this pony's whereabouts would be most appreciated; we think he was sold at auction in CA ~ 2004, along with another dun connemara gelding around the same age, after their former owner passed away !!!!!!!!!

Hi Vanessa, Good to hear from you, my pony is Gary, gelding, 14.2 or 148 cm which ever you prefer, jumped very well for the winter, won the winter final before Christmas in one centre and was placed second in another centre in April. To qualify for the final you must have seven double clear rounds. I bought him last August unbroken so i am very happy with him, he is out on grass and enjoying a well earned rest. (8/04)

Pony of the Year in England (10/05)

Vanessa, My pony Gunsmoke Timberland is 6 yrs old now, his birthday was on June 12th. His registration number is BCPS G01728, I have attached 2 pictures of him and myself at the Cornish Foaling Bank show earlier on this year where we won the Cornish Working hunter pony of the year 2005. I bought my 14 hh Dun Connemara gelding in October 2004 off a dealer (Andrew Richards); He imports them in from Ireland. My Pony, Gunsmoke Timberland, his sire is Gunsmoke and his Dam is Little Lass.

The photos below are from a cc at Tullymurray Equestrian Centre Northern Ireland with then owner/rider, Fiona, who wrote, "I am the previous owner of Kincon Ray. I owned him from 2001-2003 and he was stabled in Kircubbin Co Down Northern Ireland. He was a very well natured pony, roughly 14.2h; he would be 10 years old now, but only 5 or 6 when I owned him. When i first set eyes on him he was hiding in the back of a stable and came forward to say 'hell'o and it was a perfect match then and there. He loved cross country and was an exellent showjumper , so good in fact I had to enter the horse classes at my local yard to give him something challanging. He won many working hunter leauges and show jumping competitions. I miss him terribly but in 2003, I'd reached the age of 17 and was too long and old to keep him, so he was sold in March 2003 to a lovely family whom live in Castlewellan Northern Ireland and as far as I know still have him to this day... Ray meant the world to me and now that he's gone to a new home, it's nice to share his beauty with other people who think the same of connemaras as I do".
