Update on Foothills Waterford (2/02)
My friend, Lisa, in Roanoke, VA, tracked down Foothills Waterford, who is still with owner, Sarah Trompeter. She brought me some video which showed that he has filled out tremendously and still a very lovely pony type. Sarah reported that Ford won the stallion class at the Virginia CommonWealth Games in 2001 against several impressive warmbloods, and that his foals were also doing well. A TB-cross son (Waterfords S'il Vous Plait) was 2nd in the colt foal class and he, along with another Waterford filly won the Get of Sire.

I have some good video of Ford and a couple of his babies. I think you will like it. Everyone LOVES him! Love, Lisa Knappe (Jan. 02)

Foothills Waterford is a wonderfully balanced stallion with excellent feet and legs and an unbeatable disposition.

In 1994, Ford's full sister, Foothills River Queen , was awarded the first place Futurity Trophy in the highly contested Region III Purebred Connemara Yearling Futurity.
The following year, at the tender age of only 12 months, Waterford placed 2nd

Ford was started under saddle in the summer of 1997 and was ridden mostly by a 13 year old girl. He is a responsive mount with a nicely forward, free way of going. He is a safe and willing jumper in both stadium and cross country.

(L-R: suckling, yearling, 4 year old)

Here is a partial list of Waterford's offspring:

Waterford's Crescent Moon (2006) 14.3h dun purebred gelding. Full blooded Connemara gelding very HANSOME guy!!! BEAUTIFUL 10+ mover!!! "Doodle" is a big-boned guy with the unique Connemara characteristics. We are just starting him under saddle and we are currently walking and trotting around in his field, he is very sensible. Doodle is one of my favorites... He is an absolute hoot to be around, a really fun guy!!

Storm (2006, out of Faline, unregistered Connemara) Dun colt.

Cobalt (2006, out of Shelby) Buckskin colt.

Waterford C's Duncan (2004, out of Shelby) Buckskin gelding

Waterford's Blaze  (2003, out of Welsh mare) HBG 1882 XLIV 13.0h Connemara/Welsh/pinto gelding

Blaze has been a wonderful pony for me...he has been to numerous hunter shows and brought home a reserve champion ribbon at his first show. Blaze is so eager to please and very smart. He walk, trot, canters, and jumps and is doing very well with flying changes. He is currently in training for foxhunting and I will be using him as a hunt horse this winter because he's so quiet and sensible. He is fit for any disipline or lifestyle.

Waterford's Windy (5/13/03, out of Surreal Sue (TB) 15.1h brown Connemara/TB mare

Very sweet and willing mare, loves kids. Good mover that will excel in the hunter ring and will be suitable for any because of her tremendous athletic ability.

Waterford's Zoom- Zoom (2003 out of Fresca) 13.3h bay Connemara/Welsh/TB mare.

"Zoomy" has big, sweeping, flat-kneed gaits. Her large step makes the lines easily, and her jump is always correct with a particularly sharp front end. She has auto-changes, jumps everything, and is also a great Equitation partner with rock steady gaits that make for an ultra comfortable ride to show off her rider.
Zoomy has great ground manners and a good temperament. She loads and travels well, settles in quickly, stands quietly, and is easy for children to handle. She is a kind pony with a good brain that gets along well with most any rider.

Cloud (2003) Bay 3/4 Connemara mare

Waterford Shining Knight (2003) Bay Connemara/TB colt with white stocking to the knee.

Waterford C's Anthony (2003, out of Temple Hall) 15h bay gelding with white stockings; Connemara-TB cross.

Waterford C's Knight (2003, out of Shelby) Chestnut gelding with white stockings and a blaze.

Sunny (2002, out of Cherry [TB]) 15.1h dun gelding

Waterford's Scarlet  (2002) HBM 2025 XLIV, 14.2h Connemara cross, dun mare

Waterford's Fooled' em All (2002) Dun gelding

Velvet (2002) Bay Connemara/Welsh/TB mare

Boo (2001, out of Cherry, TB), 16.2h Connemara cross gelding,

Boo is a sound, quiet, naturally balanced horse with nice gaits. He is a steady type and is easy to put in a frame and keep together. He is easy and quiet at shows, fabulous in warm-up, doesn't change in the ring. He excels on the flat and really seems to enjoy it.

Waterford's Orion (5/30/00, out of Faline, unregistered Connemara) dun colt, Owned by The Rich Family of Davie Co. NC
Orion now has a full sibling (born 2002) owned by Sarah Trompeter in VA
I am appending a recent photo of Orion, at the age of 2+ years. He spent June at school with Kathy Hines at Cornerstone Farm and is well started under saddle. During that month he was ridden every day, in the ring and on trails, and has started lunging. He has been briefly cantered and has a very balanced canter. His disposition is wonderful--very friendly--and he accepts direction and discipline without resentment. We had him gelded early this spring... My goal is eventually to sell him... He would make a great project for a child with some experience and supervision. I visited with Sarah Trompeter last month to see her new foal out of our mare, Faline (Orion's dam), and I sold Faline to her. Her new foal looks very much like Orion, and I expect that she will raise more Ford-Faline babies. Nola Rich (7/02)
